This Teachers' Day, Let’s Give More Than Gifts.

This Teachers’Day, I thought of a gift more valuable than all the material gifts we give: Gratitude.

And not just for a day.

If we, as parents, cannot appreciate the effort teachers put into our children, perhaps we need to pause and reflect.

We cannot expect a school to teach our children every value that we, as parents, have never taught them at home.

Education is a partnership.

Teachers can guide, nurture, correct and reinforce, but they can never replace parenting.

And when a teacher chooses to care for our child beyond the textbook, that effort deserves more than criticism and judgment.

It deserves gratitude.

So, not just on Teachers’ Day, but throughout the academic year, let us remember the teachers we are often so quick to judge.

Because while we worry about our one child, they are patiently caring for 30 others in that classroom...

each with their own needs, struggles, personalities and stories.

Maybe before asking what more a teacher could do for our child, we should appreciate what they are already doing for all our children.

And that is something worth being thankful for...not just today, but every day.
